A Black Hawk helicopter landed at the Warrenton Aquatics and Recreation Facility early Friday morning.
The 12th Aviation Battalion from Fort Belvoir U.S. Army base made the practice landing in a soccer field in preparation for Warrenton Town Limits on Friday, July 1.
Warrenton Town Limits
is an annual community, family-friendly celebration with fireworks, music, games and vendors.
An Aircare 1 Medevac helicopter, a U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection aircraft and parachuters from DC Skydiving Center will also land near the WARF during the July event.
“What we are trying to do is, for Independence Day . . . we wanted to have a lager military presence this year,” said councilman Sean Polster (At-large) who helps organize the event.
“This is an opportunity for a person to see an aircraft and talk to the crew and say thank you. These men and women sacrifice so much for our freedom,” Mr. Polster said. “Plus, it’s cool.”
