Business owners, citizens and government officials gathered Thursday morning at the ceremonial groundbreaking for Warrenton’s new brewery.
Wort Hog Brewing Co. started work last week
to transform a former vehicle repair shop at 41 Beckham St. in Old Town.
“We think this is going to be a transformational project,” Fauquier County Economic Development Director Miles Friedman said.
“It’s going to revitalize this area . . . bring people to Warrenton,” Mayor Powell Duggan added.
The brewery owners, who will invest about $2.4 million in the project, anticipate opening the brewpub, with space for 280 patrons, by November.
Town Manager Brannon Godfrey said the three owners “fit into the entrepreneurial spirit of Warrenton.”
“We want this to be the town’s brewery,” said Matt Lutz, one of three owners.
