Community Invited to Free Holiday Concert
On Monday night, December 11, the Fauquier Community Band, under Conductor Paul Hicks, will present a free concert of music celebrating the holiday season. Music lovers of all ages will find old favorites—medleys of traditional “Santa” tunes, “Christmas on Broadway” and songs from the '50s—together with some new sounds of the season. There will be guest vocalists and an encore performance by FCB's Dixieland ensemble!
The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of Fauquier High School. There are no tickets required and FCB welcomes families. This concert will feature a raffle to raise money for continuing band operations. Outstanding prizes donated by local merchants range from absolutely delicious to extremely practical and useful; raffle tickets sell for $1.00 each or $5.00 for six. And the audience is invited to join band members for complimentary punch and cookies after the concert.
The Band consists of more than 60 local musicians. Membership is open to everyone—amateurs, professionals, teachers, students, retirees and anyone else willing to come to rehearsals and learn the music. All FCB concerts are offered free to the public, and there is no charge to play in the band. It relies on donations and raffle participation for its financial support.
