Join Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR), John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District (JMSWCD), and Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) to plant trees along a stream in Fauquier County on Friday December 8, 2017. We will be planting a wide range of tree and shrub species native to this area thanks to recommendations from the Virginia Department of Forestry. This project will reduce soil erosion, absorb nutrient pollution, protect water quality, and provide valuable habitat for fish and wildlife.
We will meet at the location at 9:30am. Take the second entrance to 6131 Keyser Road. Pass the main entrance with the columns and take the next gate on right, directly before Keyser Road crosses Buck Run. Look for sign directing to the project location. You can contact Bryan with Friends of the Rappahannock at 513-602-9791 the day of for questions on parking.
FOR will provide all the tools, gloves, water, and snacks for all participants. We encourage folks to join us for however long they can and to bring a water bottle, wear boots with warm socks, and dress for the weather.
