Celebrities visit Warrenton for wounded warriors

LGPA player Kris Tschetter explains how the event came about.
Amy Grant will perform as part of the weekend’s events.
Branford Marsalis also will perform.
Bob Schieffer, host of “Face the Nation” on CBS, will appear.
Kirk Lucas and Kris Tschetter own a private, 75-acre golf facility near Warrenton.
The Tschetter Lucas Foundation, founded by Ladies’ Professional Golf Association player Kris Tschetter and golf coach Kirk Lucas, will host a Weekend with the Warriors benefit at the couple’s private golf facility located at 6679 Blackwell Road near Warrenton on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 8 and 9.

The foundation supports a variety of charitable causes, from anti-bullying programs to organizations that serve wounded war veterans. Most funds from this event will benefit the Salute Military Golf Association, a nonprofit corporation that provides rehabilitative golf experiences for post-9/11 wounded war veterans.

“When we learned about SMGA and the powerful benefits of golf for wounded soldiers, we wanted to be involved,” Ms. Tschetter said. “Our foundation will host a unique event to raise money and to honor these deserving wounded heroes.”

She and Mr. Lucas will host the fundraiser on their 75-acre golf training facility near Warrenton. The event will feature golf school and tournaments with celebrities, soldiers and corporate sponsors, cookouts, games, live music and celebrity appearances. Those performing or appearing will include Amy Grant, Steve Azar, saxophonist and three-time Grammy winner Branford Marsalis, Joey Calderazzo, CBS-TV’s Bob Schieffer and Reggie Smith.

The event, promoted and managed by McKinsey Development of Warrenton, in collaboration with the Tschetter Lucas Foundation, will raise almost $300,000 this weekend.

A limited number of tickets remain for Sunday. For details, visit: TschetterLucasFoundation.org.
