21-year-old driver loses his life in single-car crash
A 21-year-old Warrenton man died of injuries suffered in a single-car accident northwest of town Sunday night, according to state police.
Logan Douglas Bourne drove a 2005 Honda Civic north on Route 691, Trooper B. R. Bottler reported. Mr. Bourne entered a left hand curve, ran off the road to the right, overcorrected and lost control, according to Trooper Boteler. The vehicle then ran off the left side of the roadway at 8:10 p.m. and struck a tree just south of Route 689.
“The driver was trapped in the vehicle, with major intrusion from the passenger side into the driver’s side,” Warrenton Volunteer Fire Chief Jason Golden said. “Crews had the patient removed within 10 minutes of arrival.”
But, Mr. Bourne died at the scene.
Driving alone, he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
