Fauquier sheriff’s detectives recently charged a Bealeton man with three counts of possessing child pornography.
Daniel Wayne Jackson, 28, turned himself in Monday, Feb. 27, according to Sgt. James Hartman.
Detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force launched an investigation in February “after receiving a cyber tip regarding the sharing of child sexual abuse images on a Yahoo Messenger account in Fauquier County,” Sgt. Hartman said in a press release.
Virginia State Police police used an “administrative warrant” to get information about an IP (internet presence) account from Verizon, according to court documents. The telecommunications company records identified the user as Mr. Jackson of 4455 Stribling Drive in Bealeton.
Sheriff’s Detective Candyce Shaw used that information to obtain the search warrant, according to an affidavit filed in Fauquier County Circuit Court.
During a Feb. 23 search of the home, investigators seized a Samsung Galaxy phone, an external hard drive, a Chromebook and a personal computer, the document states.
Using his Yahoo Messenger account, Mr. Jackson allegedly shared images of prepubescent girls.
He will appear in general district court for a preliminary hearing May 24.
