Best Bets: 22nd Warrenton car show, “Into the Woods”

The Father’s Day Car Show features hundreds of vehicles on Warrenton’s Main Street Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Warmer weather heads to Fauquier this weekend in time for a plethora of outdoor Father’s Day activities.

The Warrenton car show on Father’s Day attracts thousands of visitors to Old Town.

Meanwhile, in Southern Fauquier, the town of Remington hosts a family picnic and movie night and The Flying Circus Airshow.

Other options include a play at the community theatre, Twilight Polo and a Cold War discussion.

“Into the Woods, Jr.”
7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 15-16
2 p.m. Sunday, June 17

The Fauquier Community Theatre youth actors present “Into the Woods, Jr.” A shortened version of the Tony-award winning musical, the play follows a baker and his wife who wish to have a child; Cinderella; Little Red Riding Hood; Jack and his beanstalk; Rapunzel; the Wolf and other memorable fairytale characters. Tickets available online or by calling 540-349-8760. Adults, $14; children ages 3 to 18 and seniors 60+, $12.

Twilight Polo
5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16
5089 Old Tavern Road, The Plains

Great Meadow celebrates 25 years of the popular equestrian event at the Greenhill Stadium. The event features three polo matches, halftime games for children and adults, and dancing in the pavilion. Guests are welcome to bring blankets, chairs and a picnic. Food and wine available for purchase. This weekend’s theme is Luau Night. General admission, $25 per vehicle online or $30 at the gate.

Remington Fun Fest and movie
7 p.m. Saturday, June 16
150 W Bowen Street, Remington

The Town of Remington hosts a free, family night with a picnic from the community garden and music from Daniel Carter. The movie “Sandlot” begins at dusk. Popcorn and snow cones from the Remington American Legion. Donations welcome. Rain or shine. The event will be held in the Remington United Methodist Church if weather is bad.

Warrenton Father’s Day Car Show
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17
Main Street, Warrenton

Hundreds of cars, trucks and tractors will line Warrenton’s Main street for the 22nd annual car show. Organized by Fauquier’s American Cancer Society chapter, the event also features food and vendors. Free for spectators. Vehicle registration the day of the event, $25.

The American Press and the CIA during the Cold War
12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 17
7134 Farm Station Road, Warrenton

The Cold War Museum and Old Bust Head Brewing Company at Vint Hill host intelligence historian David Hadley. Mr. Hadley will discuss the relationships between the CIA and the press and draw information from his upcoming book, “Rising Clamor.” $25 online in advance; $35 at the door. Ticket includes a coupon toward a beer or another drink and a contribution to the museum.

The Flying Circus Airshow
2 p.m. Sunday, June 17
5114 Ritchie Road, Bealeton

Expert pilots perform daring stunts in vintage biplanes, complete with a parachute jumper and wing walker at the 48th season of The Flying Circus Airshow. Shows take place every Sunday from May to October. Airplane rides usually available. Gates open at 11 a.m. Show begins at 2:30 p.m. Adults, $15. Children 5 to 12 years old, $7. Children 4 and younger, free.
