The town council will conduct public interviews with interim manager candidates at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Warrenton’s council will interview three candidates for the interim town manager position this week.

Interviews will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Warren Green Building at 10 Hotel St.

Council members will conduct open interviews with Larry Hughes and John McCarthy in person and with Cole Hendrix by phone.

A Manassas resident, Mr. Hughes this year served as Lovettsville’s interim town manager and last year as the interim leader of the Fauquier County Water and Sanitation Authority.

A Warrenton resident, Mr. McCarthy works as the senior advisor and director of strategic partnerships at the Piedmont Environmental Council. He retired as Rappahannock’s county administrator in 2016.

Mr. Hendrix, an experienced municipal government leader from Albemarle County, served as Warrenton’s interim town manager in 2014-15.

Veteran Public Works Director Edward “Bo” Tucker has served as the interim since Warrenton’s council fired Town Manager Brannon Godfrey in October.

Plans to hire a consulting firm to recruit and screen candidates to permanently succeed Mr. Godfrey. Council members expect it will take six months to fill the position.
