The Fauquier Bank maintained the top position in deposits, with $464 million on June 30.
Deposits in Fauquier bank branches increased 9.1 percent in a year, according to an industry report released recently.

As of June 30, the county’s banking offices held $1.9 billion of customers’ funds, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. reported in its annual market share study.

A year earlier, the total stood at $1.74 billion.

That amount grew by $159 million in 12 months.

The county had 22 bank branches at the end of June, three fewer than a year earlier.

The Fauquier Bank remained in the top position, with $464.3 million in deposits, accounting for a 24.4-percent market share.

BB&T and Capital One also had double-digit shares of the county market — 18.7 and 14.7 percent, respectively — based on deposits in local branches.
