Goldvein Jubilee, Bodies in Motion 5K top best bets

Children can search for gold at Monroe Park during the annual Goldvein Jubilee Saturday.
The Bodies in Motion 5K, 10K and fun run takes place at the WARF Saturday.
The annual Goldvein Jubilee kicks off weekend festivities on Saturday with gold panning, children’s activities and music.

Other entertainment options in Fauquier include Remington’s Friday festival, a truck and tractor exhibit, a crab fest in Remington and the Bodies in Motion 5K, 10K and fun run.

Remington Friday Festival
6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15
150 W. Bowen St., Remington

The Remington community hosts the final Friday festival of the season with reggae, pop, funk and classic rock music from Josh Lowe. “Star Wars: Rogue One” will play outdoors by the community garden at dusk. In case of rain, the event will be held indoors. Free admission, popcorn and snow cones.

Goldvein Jubilee
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16
14421 Gold Dust Parkway, Goldvein

The annual celebration at Monroe Park in Southern Fauquier features historic artifacts; pony rides; entertainment by the Virginia BlueBelles, For a Dancer and Remington Steel; military and fire vehicles; the Fauquier Sheriff’s K-9 unit; gold panning; a silent auction, games and more. Free admission. Proceeds benefit park improvements.

Children explore tractors, trucks and more
1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16
430 E. Shirley Ave., Warrenton

Fauquier Parks and Recreation hosts a hands-on learning experience for children to explore large trucks, heavy machinery, emergency and farm equipment, and more. Free popsicles for children. Free admission.

Remington Vol. Fire Department Crab Fest
4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16
200 E. Marshall St., Remington

The Remington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will host an all-you-can-eat crab feast. The dinner includes steamed blue crabs, cole slaw, hush puppies, soft drinks and water. Beer will be available at additional cost. Limited to 300 tickets. $40 in advance, $50 at the door. Advance tickets available at RTO Tire & Auto and The Corner Deli or from any Remington VFRD member.

Bodies in Motion run
8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17
800 Waterloo Road, Warrenton

The sixth annual 5K, 10K and fun run takes place at the Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Center. Blue Ridge Orthopedic & Spine Center and the Blue Ridge Orthopedic Foundation host the event. All proceeds benefit local nonprofits. Bingo the Clown will entertain citizens. One mile fun run, $10; 5K run/walk, $30; 10K run/walk, $35.
