A propane gas company wants to store up to 60,000 gallons of the fuel in an industrial area near Warrenton’s southern gateway.

Blossman Gas seeks a special use permit to lease an acre at 763 James Madison Highway, behind Cecil’s Tractors, for a propane storage and distribution center.

The Warrenton Planning Commission will discuss the Blossman application during a “work session” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, in Town Hall. The commission could conduct a public hearing on the application next month.

Agenda embedded below

Blossman Gas hopes to lease the industrially-zoned property, owned by Rebecca and Cecil Campbell.

The propane company operates an office and retail operation at 259 Broadview Ave.

If the town approves the permit, Blossman would move those functions to the new site, where it would install two, 30,000-gallon, above-ground storage tanks.

The company expects delivery of approximately 9,000 gallons of propane a day by tractor-trailer.

Four smaller tankers would deliver propane to customers in the area.

The planning commission will make a recommendation to the town council, which will decide whether to grant the permit.

Based in Mississippi, Blossman Gas has locations in 12 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.
