Public school enrollment up slightly in Fauquier

Fauquier County Public Schools enrollment remains relatively flat, but increased slightly so far this year.
On Friday, Sept. 7, the sixteenth day of classes, the school system had 19 more students than a year ago.
As of last week, Fauquier Public Schools had 11,106 students.
The total enrollment increased slightly between the third day of school and after Labor Day.

would increase 6.6 percent over the next decade after years of decline.
Overall, high schools stand at 86.5 percent capacity; middle schools at 79.6 percent, and elementary schools at 77.9 percent.
Operating at 100 percent capacity, M.M. Pierce Elementary in Remington has the least available space of any county school.
Other schools nearing capacity include:
• Liberty High School in Bealeton at 91.2 percent.
• Greenville Elementary at 90.6 percent.
• Kettle Run High School at 89 percent.
Taylor Middle School’s enrollment declined 34 students from last year.
