Robert Duvall discusses living near The Plains

Robert Duval singing “If You'll Hold The Ladder (I’ll Climb To The Top).”
I bought a farm down here. … I love living in Virginia. My wife is now a citizen here in the United States and she considers Virginia to be the last station before heaven.
— Robert Duvall
Robert Duvall recently talked about life on his farm just outside of The Plains and his storied film career in an interview with WTOP.

Although he portrayed Robert E. Lee in Gods and Generals, Mr. Duvall noted that his ancestors “were pro-Union behind Southern lines” in Virginia during the Civil War.

WTOP’s Jason Fraley writes:

He’s one of the most accomplished actors in film and TV history with iconic roles as Boo Radley, Tom Hagen, Col. Kilgore and Gus McCrae.

Now, Oscar winner Robert Duvall is lending his Hollywood starpower to the Washington West Film Festival, which hits Reston Town Center from Oct. 19-25, not far from Duvall’s home in Virginia.

Robert Duvall's roots are here in Virginia. He chose to live in The Plains because he liked the way of life in Fauquier County. He tries to live in peace and does not flaunt his notoriety; although he would not be faulted if he did. His acting accomplishments are many. He ranks among the elite in the entertainment world. Mr. Duvall publically promotes and supports selected local events and efforts that celebrate the best of humanity. I personally admire the man. He should be able to move about the region without confrontation or judgement. His life here should be as normal and comfortable as we all experience. Some Facebook comments appear to fire slings and arrows at Mr. Duvall. Free country, but give the man and his family some space.
