Route 29 proposals discussed Sept. 19

Over the last decade, county and state officials have studied options to improve traffic flow and safety on Route 29 in the New Baltimore area.
Fauquier County and state transportation officials will conduct a Tuesday, Sept. 19, “outreach meeting” about potential improvements on Route 29 between Telephone Road at New Baltimore and the Prince William line.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Auburn Middle School at 7270 Riley Road near Warrenton.

Over the course of the past decade, the Virginia Department of Transportation and Fauquier County have conducted multiple studies of potential Route 29 safety and traffic flow improvements.

“The most recent study included a group of stakeholders from residential and business communities adjacent to or accessing Route 29,” county Transportation Planner Marie Pham said. “A variety of alternatives were considered in lieu of widening Route 29 . . . .

“VDOT has a conceptual plan of the solution they feel will provide the greatest improvement,” Ms. Pham added. “But before the county considers supporting any possible changes, we want to hear from the public and see if there’s support.”

The meeting will use an “open house format,” with VDOT and county staffers explaining images of the proposed. They will solicit citizen feedback and answer questions.

For more information, contact Ms. Pham at 540-422-8210 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Before the meeting, additional information will be available online.
