Clad in red, white and blue, a couple thousand people Tuesday morning celebrated Independence Day on Warrenton’s Main Street.

At 10 a.m., the annual 4th of July Children’s & Pet Parade made its way from Fifth Street to Courthouse Square.

There, the Fauquier Community Band and Allegro Community School of the Arts singers provided appropriate music, including John Philip Sousa’s 1897 classic, “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

Uncle Sam (Tom King) and Mayor Powell Duggan greeted the festive crowd.

Mayor Duggan called it the biggest crowd ever for the Independence Day tradition.

The Warrenton Civitans and Families 4 Fauquier sponsored the event.

If you watch the video closely, you may notice Chief Justice John Marshall tapping his left toe.
