Warrenton Co-op buys site from Norfolk Southern

The Culpeper Farmers Cooperative built its Warrenton store on 6.49 acres rented from the Norfolk Southern Railway since 1967.
After a half-century as a renter, the CFC Farm & Home Center in Warrenton has purchased its 6-1/2-acre site.

The Culpeper Farmers Cooperative Inc. last week closed the $1.2-million deal, buying the property from Norfolk Southern Railway Co.

Warrenton Co-op Manager Roy Lambert said the business has no immediate plans for changing anything on the site, which the railroad company just recently decided to sell.

The property lies along Washington Street, a block northeast of East Shirley Avenue and the Warrenton Horse Show Grounds.

The Center District sale tops the most recent list of Fauquier real estate transactions.
