Warrenton Town Limits attracts a huge crowd

More than 6,500 citizens attended the second annual Warrenton Town Limits, a community patriotic celebration.

The free event, held Friday, July 1 at the Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility, featured a family-friendly atmosphere.

“This event provides an opportunity for residents to come together with friends and neighbors to have a great time celebrating their community,” said councilman and event organizer Sean Polster (At-large).

Rain dissipated into a cool summer evening as citizens examined food stands and vendors around the WARF athletic fields.

Children played corn hole, dunked the manager of the Warrenton Wal-Mart, and investigated military aircraft.

A skydiver from DC Skydiving Center displayed a 2,000 square foot American flag at dusk.

The Fauquier Community Band played patriot songs, serenading a crowd during the fireworks show.

The town budgeted about $42,000 for this year’s event.

Why are we spending all this money on this event when we haven't balanced our budget? Councilman Polster takes all the credit for the event but he wouldn't vote for the budget because it wasn't balanced. Makes no sense.
