New school chief conducts public forums this summer

• Experience: Superintendent, Greene County Public Schools, July 2008 to April 2013; assistant superintendent, Greene County, 2006-08; director, Charlottesville/Albemarle Technical Center, 2005-06; Principal, Louisa County High School, 2001-05; principal, Bassett High School, 1999-2001; assistant principal, Louisa County Middle School, 1996-99.

• Education: Doctorate, education, University of Virginia, 2010; master’s, education, University of Southern Mississippi, 1994; bachelor’s, social science and secondary education, Nyack (N.Y.) College, 1988.

• Family: Wife Rhonda, who teaches in Albemarle County; sons David Jr. and Caleb.

• Hobbies: Cooking, golfing and rooting for the L.A. Dodgers.
The new leader of Fauquier County Public Schools will conduct a series of “Meet the Superintendent” forums this summer.

David C. Jeck started May 1 and came from Greene County, north of Charlottesville, where he served almost five years as superintendent.

Dr. Jeck will open each forum with a half-hour informal “meet and greet.” Then, he will give a 20-minute presentation, “Where We Go from Here.”

During the last 40 minutes, he will field questions.

The forum schedule:

• Tuesday, July 9, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Warrenton Middle School auditorium.

• Monday, July 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Kettle Run High School auditorium.

• Wednesday, July 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Cedar Lee Middle School auditorium

• Thursday, Aug. 1, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Marshall Middle School auditorium.

Dr. Jeck frequently updates his blog on the county school system website.
