Remington breakfast gives Toys for Tots a huge boost

The U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots campaign got a big boost from the Remington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department’s annual pancake breakfast with Santa on Sunday morning.

In four hours, 246 people passed through the buffet.

The volunteers offered free breakfast to anyone who brought a new, unwrapped children’s gift to drop in the Toys for Tot collection boxes. The breakfast crowd filled up seven boxes, far exceeding last year’s effort.

Meanwhile, children from 7 months to 11 years old waited patiently to see Santa to tell him what they had on their Christmas lists.

In the first two hours, the volunteers served up 80 pounds of potatoes, 60 pounds of bacon, 40 pounds of sausage, 45 dozen eggs, 250 biscuits and too many pancakes to count.

For the third consecutive year, Remington Fire & Rescue conducted the collection and fundraiser to help Toys for Tots.
