A celebration of the life of Robert A. “Bob” Niles, a Remington lawyer and civic leader who died recently at age 89, will take place Saturday, April 12.

The event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Remington Lions Club.

A longtime member of the club, Mr. Niles played a key role in construction of the building just north of town. He also helped found the Southern Fauquier Business Owners Association, which organized Saturday’s celebration.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Niles for decades served, without charge, as town attorney for Remington. He participated in a range of community activities, including the recruitment of Dr. Ralph Robinson, who established his medical practice in town.

Sumerduck residents, Mr. Niles and his wife Betty donated 14 acres to Hospice of the Rapidan for future construction of a residential hospice building.

He died March 19. The funeral was private.

Saturday’s event will give friends a chance to share memories and stories about Mr. Niles.

Those who wish to speak should contact Suzanne Williams at 540-439-8411 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Participants may bring food for covered dish dinner that will follow the program. Coffee, iced tea and water will be provided.

The Remington Lions Club is on Routes 15/29 just north of Remington. The address is 11326 James Madison Highway, Bealeton.
