Warrenton Town Council candidates will participate in an election forum Wednesday night, April 30.

Roger Martella, David Norden, Sean Polster and Sunny Reynolds will vie for two at-large seats in the May 6 town election.

They will discuss issues and answer questions in the forum, starting at 7 p.m. in the Taylor Middle School auditorium less than a week before the election.

The Fauquier County Chamber of Commerce, FauquierNow.com and The Fauquier Times jointly will sponsor the forum.

FauquierNow Editor Lawrence Emerson and Times Editor Ray Finefrock will pose questions to the candidates — including those submitted by audience members.

Philip Mulford, founder of Mulford Mediation in Warrenton, will moderate the forum — a role he has performed frequently over the years.

Warrenton voters will elect the two at-large council members and a mayor — all to four-year terms starting July 1.

Councilman Powell Duggan (Ward 1) faces no opposition in his bid to succeed Mayor George Fitch, who will step down after 16 years.

The five ward council seats will appear on the town ballot in May 2016. But, the town will need to appoint or elect a new council member to serve the two years that would remain on Mr. Duggan’s term, assuming he becomes mayor.

Remington and The Plains also have competitive town government races leading up to the May 6 elections.

Citizens in all three towns must register by 5 p.m. Monday, April 14, to vote in the municipal elections this year.

Taylor Middle School is at 350 E. Shirley Ave. in Warrenton.
