Justin Vaclavicek pitched eight scoreless innings Thursday night before surrendering four earned runs in the ninth as Remington fell 5-3 to visiting Leesburg in a senior division American Legion baseball game.
Entering the ninth inning Thursday night Justin Vaclavicek and his Remington American Legion baseball team enjoyed a 3-0 lead over visiting Leesburg.

Then the bottom fell out.

Post 34 scored five unanswered runs in the final inning taking a 5-3 win and guaranteeing Remington a road trip for the upcoming playoffs.

It had been a pitchers’ duel for much of the game between Vaclavicek and Leesburg’s Cameron Eck.

The game remained scoreless through six innings when Post 257 scored twice in the seventh and once in the eighth.

Remington closes out its regular-season home schedule Friday night when it hosts Stafford-Nationals at 7 p.m., at Liberty High School.

A makeup game at Front Royal concludes the season Saturday night.
