Members of the Greater Fauquier Baseball Little League junior all-star team enjoy a post-tournament experience at the state tournament this weekend. The team lost its first two games in the double-elimination tournament.
Greater Fauquier’s Junior Little League all-star team found the competition tougher in this weekend’s Virginia Little League tournament in Wise County.

Competing at the state level in just its second season of existence the team lost both games in the double-elimination tourney.

Frederick County Nationals beat the Fauquier County team 9-0 Thursday night and then fell 8-2 to Tuckahoe in a first-round consolation bracket game.

Michael Rubio and Nathan Mabe pitched against the Nationals while Chris Kiser and Sam Richardson pitched Friday.

“Our pitchers did a superb job but defensive errors and a lack of timely hitting were the keys to the losses,” Greater Fauquier Coach Bob Ritz said.

Most of the team members will play as freshmen for their respective high school teams this coming school year.
