GFBLL scheduling tryouts for developmental team
Greater Fauquier Baseball Little League organization has planned a development league for players seven and under for the fall and winter months.
A youth baseball development team will begin instruction this fall and winter according to Greater Fauquier Baseball Little League.
The team will help identify and support players aged seven and younger (as of April 30, 2015) who exhibit an advanced skillset and interest in the game.
The team focuses on getting players ready for the rigor of playing higher-level baseball, including travel, tournament and all-star competition.
“We will work on lots of fundamentals, baseball mechanics, fielding, throwing, pitching, catcher position, baseball awareness and agility,” GFBLL spokesperson and Coach C.G. Goldizen said.
The development team will typically practice one day during the weekend during the late summer and fall seasons or until it gets to cold outside.
“We will then take a break during the holiday season and early in 2016, we will start with indoor practice on the weekends,” Coach Goldizen said.
Indoor practice will run until the end of March or when the weather is good enough to practice outside.
Additional practices may be possible into the spring season and the option exists for playing some tournament or additional weekend games.
In addition to Coach Goldizen additional instruction will be provided by select Little League coaches and local professional coaches.
The cost of the program will be kept to a minimum.
Tryouts will be in August and additional information will be emailed to participants as time gets closer.
