Post 72 junior Legion team beats Stafford-Virginians
Warrenton starter Henry Soaper gets a Stafford-Virginians batter to pop up in the infield for an automatic infield fly rule out during the second inning Monday night. The local junior division American Legion team beat Stafford 13-3 in five innings.

Dustin Donner got hit by a pitch in second-inning play.
Warrenton pounded out 11 hits Monday night to beat visiting Stafford-Virginians 13-3, in a junior division American Legion baseball game.
Played on Athey Field at Fauquier High School due to wet field conditions at its home field at Kettle Run, umpires called the game after five-innings via the slaughter rule.
Post 72 improved to 6-3 in league standings, solidifying its second-place standing with the win.
Post 290 fell to 2-7.
Surprisingly only three Warrenton batters – Howard Soaper, Sean Hardy and Justin Harmon – had more than one hit.
Hardy led the team with a double and triple.
Warrenton led 7-0 after the first inning.
Soaper, Brandon Athey and Joshua Boggs pitched by committee with Athey picking up the win.
Warrenton travels to Sherando High School in Stephens City on Thursday night for a 7 p.m., game against league-leading Winchester.
