The first Science/Sustainable Energy Art Expo will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Fauquier High School.
Stressing environmental education, the free community event will feature exhibits, presentations and workshops by schools, businesses, groups and individuals.
School highlights will include competition with art made from recycled materials, the travelling student art show, award winning recycling posters by students, lectures and workshops, a 3-D printer demonstration, rockets, regional science fair exhibits by public and private school students, plant sales for Mother’s Day and the presentation of 15 community “Eco-Awards: at 2:30 p.m.
Exhibits and participating organizations will include the FHS geothermal mechanical room, beekeeping, building energy conservation systems, Women for Conservation, Top 25 Fauquier Eco-Friendly Energy saving entities, the Fauquier County Department of Environmental Services, the Piedmont Environmental Council and the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District.
Students will give tours of the renovated high school, with emphasis on its “green building” components and energy-saving features.
