17 nonprofit organizations seeking help Saturday

Volunteers will help 17 nonprofit groups tackle a range of projects Saturday, April 29.

The first “Let’s Volunteer Day” will take place in Fauquier, Rappahannock and Culpeper counties.

The PATH Volunteer Center in Warrenton has organized the event.

“Volunteers play such an important role in helping these nonprofits accomplish their goals,” center Manager Lynn Lauritzen said. “I love helping people find just the right fit for their interest and skills.

“The Let’s Volunteer Day is a way for us to encourage groups and individuals to come out and tackle a project that might not be part of the day-to-day needs of an organization.”

For sign-up information and project details — including times, location and service requested, visit www.letsvolunteer.org

Volunteers will go straight to their project sites to get started Saturday.

These organizations have requested help for their projects:

• Allegro Community School of the Arts
• Clifton Institute
• Community Touch
• Culpeper County Parks & Recreation
• East Orange County Little League
• Fauquier Community Food Bank & Thrift Store
• Fauquier Family Cemetery Foundation
• Fauquier FISH
• Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail
• Fauquier SPCA
• Hope for Appalachia
• Hospice Support of Fauquier County
• Northern Virginia 4-H Educational
• People for Pets Foundation
• Verdun Adventure Bound
• Virginia Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation
• Windmore Foundation for the Arts

Each volunteer will get a free t-shirt.

The PATH Volunteer Center opened in November. It has helped 70 nonprofits with more than 150 volunteer needs.
