Auburn Middle students place in state poster contest
Jessica Seeboth’s poster won second place in the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign poster contest.
Madison Lawrence’s poster won second place.
Two former Auburn Middle School students — Jessica Seeboth and Madison Lawrence — placed second and third, respectively, in the 2017 Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign poster contest.
Jessica and Madison, both eighth graders at Auburn Middle School last year, entered the contest with the theme “Virginia is for givers.”
Last year, art teacher Annie Malloy asked all of her second-semester eighth-grade students to enter the contest.
Both Jessica and Madison will receive cash prizes and an invitation to meet the governor or first lady at the campaign kickoff in Richmond in October.
Their winning artwork is featured on the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign website and will be on rotating display in the General Assembly Building, the Governor’s Mansion and the Virginia Department of Education.
The CVC acts as the annual charity drive of the employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia. More than 1,000 charities apply annually to participate in the Commonwealth’s workplace giving campaign.
