Daniel Succop wins the car at FHS After-Prom Party
Fauquier High School senior Daniel Succop receives the keys to his new ride from FHS Principal “Tripp” Burton.
Just after 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 23, Fauquier High School students who had stayed at the after prom party fought the urge to sleep as they hoped to win one of the big prizes.
The seniors perked up, however, when the time came to draw the winner’s name for a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, donated by Country Chevrolet in Warrenton.
It took three attempts to find a winner. The first name drawn was for a girl who was no longer there, and students needed to be present to win. The second name was that of an exchange student, who was ineligible to win the car.
FHS Principal “Tripp” Burton clearly knew who the third name drawn, and he spent a few moments dropping hints before he finally called out: “Daniel Succop.”
“I was very surprised,” Mr. Succop said. “It almost seemed like I was in a dream that I needed to wake up from, but it was reality!”
As he approached the prize table to shake hands with Principal Burton, Mr. Succop received congratulations from his parents Kim and Jim, who have served on the after prom party committee for nearly a decade.
The 18-year-old has been active during his four years at Fauquier High School, playing football and participating in DECA and SCA. In his free time, he enjoys hockey, fishing, and spending time with friends.
In the fall, Mr. Succop will head to West Virginia University, where he plans to study business and marketing.
Country Chevrolet for years has donated cars to after prom parties in the county.
