Fauquier junior places second at state conference

Mindy Hale, a Fauquier High School junior, won second for her project on living a healthier life.
Mindy Hale, a junior at Fauquier High School, placed second in the nutrition and wellness category at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Conference.

The event took place in Virginia Beach April 7-9.

Mindy created a family plan project entitled “Living a Better and Healthier Life,” which included a 10-minute oral presentation and Power Point in front of the judges.

As the second-place state winner, she will compete at the FCCLA national convention July 1-8 in Nashville, Tenn.

Family and consumer science teacher Becky Hale advises FCCLA at Fauquier High School.

“Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12,” according to the organization’s website.
