Free Aug. 15 workshop set on planting near streams, ponds

The workshop will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the pavilion at Rady Park in Warrenton.
A free workshop, “Planting the Right Trees, Shrubs and Perennials next to Streams and Ponds,” will take place Tuesday, Aug. 15, in Warrenton.

Horticulture Extension Agent Tim Ohwiler will conduct the workshop, starting at 6 p.m. in the Rady Park pavilion at 725 Fauquier Road.

Mr. Ohwiler will discuss plants well-suited for planting in wet areas and their benefits to wildlife and water quality. The workshop will explore examples of different management styles. Participants should dress for walking on uneven ground and being outside.

The presentation is part of the Fauquier/Rappahannock Master Gardeners’ Twilight Tuesdays program, a series of horticultural classes conducted from spring to fall each year. Horticultural experts and seasoned Master Gardeners lead the workshops that cover a range of topics.

Next Tuesday’s program will last 60 to 90 minutes and will take place rain or shine.
