Correct pruning encourages trees to produce larger fruit.
A free presentation, “Take the Guess Work out of Pruning,” will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in Warrenton.

Horticulture Extension Agent Tim Ohlwiler will teach the proper techniques for pruning shrubs and trees. The workshop will cover timing, the different cuts and the tools that are necessary. Mr. Ohlwiler will focus on pruning fruit trees, berries and other common ornamentals in the home garden.

The workshop will take place at the extension service office at 24 Pelham St.

“Take the Guess Work out of Pruning” is part of the Fauquier/Rappahannock Master Gardeners’ Twilight Tuesdays program, held from spring to fall each year for the community. Horticultural experts and Master Gardeners teach the workshops on a range of topics

The program is free and open to the public, rain or shine. It will last 60 to 90 minutes. The organizers recommend registering and arriving early. To register or for more information, contact the Master Gardener Help Desk at 540-341-7950, extension 1, or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
