The Fauquier Heritage & Preservation Foundation dedicated its new Robert L. Sinclair Education Center on Saturday, Oct. 14, in Marshall.

Mr. Sinclair, a county native whose family roots stretch back more than 200 years in Fauquier, has served as the foundation’s president since its founding in 2003.

He retired after a career as a teacher and principal in Fauquier County Public Schools. Mr. Sinclair also served on the county planning commission and as chairman of Fauquier’s 250th anniversary committee in 2009.

The new education center provides space for lectures, presentations and exhibits. In the building at 4118 Winchester Road, the foundation displays newly acquired household artifacts, recently transcribed letters and historic county maps. It stands next to the foundation’s John K. Gott Library.
