The board made the appointment at its monthly meeting Monday.
A freelance writer and recent Leadership Fauquier graduate, Ms. O’Grady will handle administrative duties until the organization hires a full-time executive director, a requirement for regaining Virginia Main Street Program certification.
“As the organization gained momentum, it became apparent that someone needed to make sure our efforts are in line with the Virginia Main Street Program requirements in order to have Warrenton become reaccredited,” she said. “It was an offer I was happy to make as we continue to raise funds to hire an executive director.”
Ms. O’Grady and EOTW Chairman will define her specific responsibilities.
“We are very fortunate to have someone with Aimée’s skills willing to take this on,” Mr. Dabney said. “She’s been an active member of our board and has naturally assumed a lot of responsibility from the very beginning. This is a big step forward for Experience Old Town Warrenton.”
The organization, formally launched this spring as the successor to the Partnership for Warrenton Foundation. EOTW seeks to enhance economic vitality while preserving the historic character of the community.
The organization’s next public event, “Dog Days of Summer First Friday,” will take place Sept. 7.
