Nicholas Seyler a National Merit Scholarship Finalist

Kettle Run senior Nicholas Seyler is one of 15,000 National Merit Scholarship Finalists.
Kettle Run High School senior Nicholas Seyler has been named a finalist in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship program.

One of 15,000 finalists, Nicholas also attends Mountain Vista Governor’s School.

High school students enter the scholarship program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

About 7,500 scholarships worth approximately $33 million will be awarded to finalists in the spring of 2017.

Three types of National Merit Scholarships will be offered.

Every finalist will compete for one of 2,500 National Merit $2,500 Scholarships that will be awarded on a state representational basis.

Corporations, colleges and universities also sponsor merit scholarships.

Nicholas and 11 other Fauquier County students earned National Merit honors in September.

Nicholas remains undecided as to where he wants to attend college, but plans to study biomedical engineering.

His extracurricular activities include varsity soccer, Math Honor Society, the Kettle Run Academic Team and the National Honor Society.
