Nine county students going to governor’s schools

Nine students from Fauquier County Public Schools will spend at least part of this summer at governor’s schools in Virginia.

Eight will attend a Summer Residential Governor’s School and one at a Governor’s Foreign Language Academy.

The four-week Summer Residential Governor’s Schools provide rising juniors and seniors intensive educational experiences focused on one special area of interest.

Kettle Run High student Audrey Fisher and Liberty High student Cora Sheppard will attend the Humanities Governor’s School June 22-July 20 at Radford University.

Fauquier High student Jessica Pain will attend the Governor’s School for Visual and Performing Arts June 22-July 20 at Radford University

Liberty students Max Dubnowski and Madelyn Schwier will attend the Math, Science and Technology program at the University of Lynchburg June 30-July 22.

Kettle Run student Hunter Carson and Liberty student Megan Day will be attending the Governor’s School for Agriculture at Virginia Tech June 23-July 30.

Kettle Run student Gabriella Biasillo will attend the Governor’s School for Medical and Health Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University June 30-July 27

All of the students will be involved in classroom and laboratory work, field studies, research, individual and group projects and seminars with noted scholars.

Attending a three-week full immersion Virginia Governor’s Foreign Language Academy for French will be FHS student Lumin Edmonds. She will be at Washington and Lee University June 22-July 13.
