Prayer breakfast May 4 focuses on opioid abuse

Virginia Secretary of Public Safety Brian Moran and DEA Special Agent in Charge Karl Colder will speak at the prayer breakfast Thursday, May 4, at the Stoneridge Events Center.
Virginia Secretary for Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran will speak at a prayer breakfast Thursday, May 4, in Warrenton.

The program also will feature U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Karl C. Colder.

Admission to the breakfast, part of the National Day of Prayer celebration in Fauquier, is free. But, the organizers request preregistration, using this link.

The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. at the Stoneridge Events Center just north of Warrenton.

Local ministers and Sheriff Bob Mosier organized the breakfast, which will emphasize “A Call to Action” in the community to reduce the abuse of drugs, particularly heroin and other opioids.

Two additional National Day of Prayer events will take place in Warrenton on May 4:

• A time of prayer at noon at the John Barton Payne Building at 2 Courthouse Square.

• A time of “prayer and praise,” starting at 5:30 p.m. at Eva Walker Park at Alexandria Pike and Haiti Street. The event will include music and other activities.
