Fauquier Raiders 9U win Top Gun tournament

The Fauquier Raiders 9U baseball team celebrates its tournament championship June 17 in Rocky Mount, N.C.
The Fauquier Raiders 9U won Top Gun Baseball Summer World Series Tournament on June 15-17.

The tournament in Rocky Mount, N.C., drew 173 teams from many different states.

The Raiders played in seven games over three days to clinch the Gold Bracket Championship. They outscored their opponents, 48-24.

“Their bats were on fire, the defense was flawless and pitchers were painting the corners of the plate,” Raiders Manager CG Goldizen said of the team from Warrenton.

The teamwork, sportsmanship and comradery amongst the players is unbelievable, they constantly pick each other up and work hard together. They played hard all weekend, laying it all out on the line when it mattered most and pushed them to new limits.

The 9U Raiders advanced to the championship game in all four four tournaments they played this season, winning two titles and finishing runner-up twice.

“It has been a spectacular season for this group of talented young ballplayers,” Manager Goldizen said. “We are super proud of them and how hard they worked to reach this point.”
