Registration deadline Monday for voting Nov. 7

The voter registration deadline for the upcoming gubernatorial election is Monday, Oct. 16.

Virginia voters on Nov. 7 will elect the next governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and all 100 House of Delegates members.

To register to vote or update voter registration information:
 
• Applications must be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 16.

• In-person applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday.

• Online applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Monday.
 
Any Virginian can check or update his/her registration information or register for the first time at the Virginia Department of Election’s Online Citizen Portal, available at vote.virginia.gov. Registered voters also and preview their ballot and request an absentee ballot through the website. 

“The Department of Elections offers the convenience and security of online voter registration to make voter registration more accessible for our citizens,” Virginia’s Commissioner of Elections Edgardo Cortés said.
 
To register to vote in Virginia, one must:
 
• Be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Virginia.
• Be at least 18 years old by the upcoming Nov. 7 general election.
• Have had voting rights restored if convicted of a felony.
• Have had the capacity restored by court order if declared mentally incapacitated.
 
In addition to registering online at vote.virginia.gov, eligible Virginians may register at their local voter registration office. 

The Fauquier registrar’s office is at 528 Waterloo Road, Suite 200, in Warrenton. The office phone number is 540-422-8290.

Voter registration opportunities also are available at Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers and social service offices.

As registered voters in this country we all need to push for a 28th Amendment to the Constitution - All appointees or nominees for office of United States President, Vice-President, Congress, Supreme Court, and The Cabinet are required to undergo a psychological evaluation before appointment or nomination is confirmed.
