Rogues Road improvements hearing Tuesday, June 4

Virginia Department of Transportation
The $5-million project calls for improvements along Rogues Road from Academic Avenue to about four-tenths of a mile north of the Kettle Run high entrance.
The Virginia Department of Transportation on Tuesday will conduct a public hearing on plans to reconstruct a portion of Rogues Road near New Baltimore.

The June 4 hearing will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in Kettle Run High School at 7043 Academic Ave.

The $5-million project calls for improvements along Rogues Road from Academic Avenue to about four-tenths of a mile north of the Kettle Run high entrance. Designed to enhance safety for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians, they would include:

• A northbound left turn lane from Rogues Road to Kennedy Road.

• Traffic signal modifications to provide a pedestrian crossing at Academic Drive and a 10-foot-wide shared-use path from Grapewood Drive to Kennedy Road.

Under the proposed schedule, VDOT hopes to complete right-of-way acquisition and the relocation of utilities next spring. The project would be advertised for construction bids in fall of 2021 and would be completed in the winter of 2022.

VDOT staff members will be available Tuesday night at the high school to discuss the project and answer questions at an “open house-style hearing.”

Written comments can be sent by mail to Project Manager David Cubbage at 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper, Va., 22701 through June 14. Email comments can be sent to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Anyone requiring special assistance to attend and participate in this meeting may contact VDOT at 540-829-7500, 800-367-7623 or TTY/TDD 711. Click here for more information about the project. Select the “public outreach” tab for the public hearing brochure, comment sheet and displays.
