“Kimi and Neko,” at 30-by-30-inch oil painting by Alan Rubin.
Local artist Alan Rubin has a show of 25 paintings that will hang through July 10 at Barrel Oak Winery, just down the road from his Delaplane home.
The winery will host an opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 12, for the show that features 25 paintings “of dogs and other critters,” Mr. Rubin said.
He has painted full-time since closing the Biograph Theatre in Washington, D.C., 25 years ago. Mr. Rubin and four partners in 1967 opened repertory movie house, built inside the shell of an old auto dealership. The Georgetown theatre closed in 1996.
Mr. Rubin and his wife Susan have lived in Fauquier since 1976.
