Warrenton VFW Commander Tim Nosal gives “Teacher of the Year” awards to David Kuzma from Kettle Run and Gail Angelos from Smith Elementary.
Taylor teacher Selena Dickey also received an award from the Warrenton VFW post.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9835 in Warrenton recently selected three Fauquier “Teachers of the Year” — second grade teacher Gail Angelos from P.B. Smith Elementary School, sixth grade history and English teacher Selena Dickey from Taylor Middle School and social studies teacher David Kuzma from Kettle Run High School.

In addition, Ms. Angelos and Mr. Kuzma became District 8 Teachers of the Year in their respective categories.

Each year the VFW nationwide sponsors its annual Teacher of the Year program for elementary, middle and high school instructors. Award recipients are selected at the post, regional, state and national levels.

The program honors teachers who instill a sense of national pride in students by teaching citizenship education topics, promoting America’s history and traditions, and promoting civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism.

The Warrenton VFW did a better job awarding our local teachers than the President of the United States did honoring the 2017 National Teacher of the Year.
