Kettle Run falls

Loudoun Valley defeated Kettle Run, 56-27, in the home opener for both teams.

The visitors spoiled the debut of Charlie Porterfield as the Cougars’ second new coach in as many years.

Kettle Run senior receiver Tony Rocca caught two touchdown passes from junior quarterback Casen Chumley, who completed 16 of 31 passes for 229 years.

The Cougars (0-1) will host Albemarle (0-1) at 7 p.m. next Friday. The Patriots lost their opener, 28-21, in overtime at Brookville.

Eagles idle this week

Liberty will open its season against visiting Woodgrove (1-0) next Friday at 7 p.m.
