FauquierNow staff receives 16 state journalism awards

FauquierNow staff journalists received 16 awards at the Virginia Press Association’s annual conference Saturday night in Richmond.

First place
• General news writing, Lawrence Emerson.
• Government writing, Mr. Emerson.
• Feature writing portfolio, Don Del Rosso.
• Feature photo, Mr. Emerson.
• Personality or portrait photo, Cassandra Brown.
• Pictorial photo, Ms. Brown.
• General news photo, Mr. Emerson.

Second place
• Business and financial writing, Mr. Emerson.
• Best website, staff.
• Online slideshow, Mr. Emerson.
• Pictorial photo, Mr. Emerson.
• Personality or portrait photo, Mr. Emerson.
• Feature photo, Ms. Brown.

Third place
• Government writing, Ms. Brown.
• Feature photo, Ms. Brown.

Ms. Brown’s image of Warrenton resident Bob DiNunzio with his dogs, one of them a competitor in the Westminster Kennel Club show, won Best in Show for photography in the online division.

In three years of competition, FauquierNow has won 52 journalism awards.
