Highland Key Club raises $1,300 to fight hunger

Highland School’s Key Club raised more than $1,300 for the Fauquier Food Bank, the F.I.S.H. summer meals for kids program and the Fauquier Food Distribution Coalition during its seventh annual Empty Bowls Soup Dinner on Friday, March 8.

Guests selected bowls handmade by ceramics students and tasted soups donated by local businesses and Highland families. Members of Highland guitar ensemble performed selections and guest dined in the art gallery, where student artwork is on exhibit.

Many people stayed for opening night of Highland’s spring musical, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying.

The Key Club, a youth affiliate of Kiwanis International, thanked the local businesses that supported the event: A la Carte Café and Catering, Black Bear Bistro, Claire’s at the Depot, El Agave, Great Harvest Bread Co., Gusta di Vita Coffee, Harris Teeter, Iron Bridge Restaurant, McMahon’s Irish Pub and Restaurant, Red Truck Bakery and Safeway.
