Free pasture management seminar moved to June 25

The state will fund the seminar to help address water quality impairments in the Marsh Run drainage basin.
Because of the weather forecast, the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District has rescheduled a pasture management program originally schedule for Thursday, June 13, at Highwater Farm in Morrisville.

The workshop instead will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the same location.

Participants will learn how to evaluate their own forage using a pasture scoring system and develop goals for a grazing plan.

Speakers will include Virginia Cooperative Extension and Natural Resource Conservation Service staff members.

This free education program will be provided by a grant from Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, which addresses water quality impairments in the Marsh Run drainage basin. Information on agricultural cost-share programs and a sampling of local agricultural products will be available at each session.

Directions to the host farm will be provided to registered participants.

To register, contact JMSWCD by Tuesday, June 11, by phone at 540-347-3120, extension 3, or e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Please, provide your name, number attending, mailing address and phone number.
