The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, March 17, will conduct a seven-hour seminar about safety in places of worship.

Training topics will include suspicious activity reporting, citizen response to an active shooter, safety and security and crime prevention through environmental design.

The seminar, “Safety & Security for Places of Worship,” will start at 8 a.m. at The Bridge Community Church south of Warrenton. It will run until 3 p.m.

The intended audience includes “leaders of the faith based community or person representing the leadership,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. “We ask that each organization limit attendance to a maximum of five persons.”

Lt. Rick MacWelch of the sheriff’s Community Service Division will organize the event.

The sheriff’s office conducted a similar, 90-minute seminar Jan. 11. It drew a large audience.
