Zoning comes through for home childcare providers

The county supervisors approved zoning changes to making permitting easier for small, home-based daycare centers.
By Lorraine Jones Whitfield
I must say that it wasn’t a very hard decision, but it took a little time and I think the family day home childcare providers in Fauquier will be pleased.

(The board of supervisors July 11 approved zoning text amendments to make it easier for small, home-based daycare centers to get permits.)

I just want to thank Fauquier County Zoning Administrator Kim Johnson and those who worked with the family day home providers to make this a smooth journey for them. Hopefully this will work and the former providers will be able to keep their daycare operations in the same capacity as it has always been and can continue to provide quality service without any interruptions.

I believe that the parents will be at ease, as will the providers and their staffs. Just think, this change would have affected many families and financial situations if a compromise could have not been met. I am glad, I must say, for this.

It could have been a rough ride, as some have had it in other areas. I just can’t thank county zoning officials enough for continuously keeping in contact with several of us.

Great, I believe this is a necessary for many working families. I just wish that Fauquier County could be just as foresighted on our vineyards.
