Almus Everette “Sonny” Smith, 87, of Warrenton, passed away April 14, 2018, at Fauquier Health Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
He was born on August 21, 1930, and was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Smith of Warrenton; seven daughters, Kasandra Campbell, Alma Rector and husband Ronald, Shirley Jackson, all of Warrenton, Peggy Dodd and husband Perry of Manassas, Deborah Dyson and husband Ellis of Upper Marlboro, Md., Mable Settle and husband Ronnie of Brandy Station, and Liza Ferguson and husband John of Bealeton, VA; five sons, Almus Barbour and Earl Barbou both of Culpeper, David Jackson, Bryan Jackson and Andy Barbour, all of Warrenton; a nephew, Dr. Decker Tapscott Sr. of Warrenton; a niece, Cynthia Tapscott of Warrenton; a special nephew, Cameron Tapscott of Warrenton; 21 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
The funeral took place Monday, April 23, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Warrenton. Rev. Lemuel Montgomery delivered the eulogy. Interment was in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper.
